Erika Díaz

Visual and plastic artist based in Bogotá, Erika Díaz explores the multiple dimensions of intimate memory from her personal context through processes of re-signification. Her work is particularly concerned with the relational dimension of fashion, understood as the set of adornments and garments used during a specific period, as a tool for studying identity.

Throughout her practice, she addresses notions of fragility inherent to everyday objects, creating a visual dialogue between opposing materials and challenging conventional perceptions of what is fragile and what is robust. The transformation of materials through three-dimensional practice and the use of ceramics are fundamental axes of her work, through which she replicates and reconfigures forms to highlight the beauty found at the intersection of the ordinary and the exceptional.
